NSF Cyberlearning Task Force
Researcher: Christine Borgman
Graduate Student Researcher: Andrew Lau
This course requires an enrolment key
The National Science Foundation has established a short-term (December, 2007-June-2008) Task Force charged with providing advice and guidance to the Education and Human Resources Directorate and to the Office of Cyber Infrastructure on directions NSF should take in formulating a strategy to support transformative cyber-enabled STEM learning.  The Task Force will be chaired by Prof. Christine Borgman, UCLA Information Studies, and include 11 other distinguished members of the science, technology, engineering, and education communities. Topics to be addressed include areas of new opportunity and promise in cyber-enabled learning; key research questions related to cyber-enabled learning; how NSF might work with the research and education communities to develop consensus around these questions; identification of key partners to involve in this discussion; how NSF should proceed in developing a strategic approach to cyber-enabled learning; and how current programs such as the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) and the Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program fit in the context of this larger vision.
